The Real Truth Digest
is a collection of articles, examining, in the light of
Scripture, troubling, debated, and controversial, doctrinal issues
emerging into prominence within the Church. It is
dedicated to the establishment and advancement of
"sound doctrine" within the entire Church, but
especially the Charismatic/Neo-Pentecostal branch.
Below are titles of and hyperlinks to
the TRTD articles. Additional prophetic articles are published
in the Prophetic Perspective.
I believe in unity among believers—wholeheartedly. I believe it is vital
to the Body of Christ in order to accomplish the purposes and plans of God on Earth. More
importantly, beyond believing in it, I want it. No, I covet it! That is, I have a strong
desire for it. I much prefer unity over disunity, harmony over disharmony, accord over
discord, concord over controversy, agreement over disagreement, amity over animus. But, I
believe in Biblical unity. There are more versions of unity than just the Biblical one,
however, which are not based in the principles of God's Word, Will, and Ways, but in a far
different philosophy and agenda. Read Part 1
Perhaps the most common and constant refrain that the master-collage of
Christmas-related narratives, poems, songs, melodies, tunes, and orchestral
odes is the familiar refrain of "Peace On Earth and goodwill to men." The
fact is, as annoying as the question of why peace on Earth has never existed
in the history of mankind is to many Christians, it is nonetheless a valid one.
Why hasn’t there been peace and goodwill in the affairs of men through
the last two millennia? Is the prospect of peace on Earth really even a
scriptural concept? Even more pertinent to our real lives, is it a viable
possibility? Read
In the 1980's a spiritually perilous trend began developing in the
Neo-Pentecostal realm, which was the human appointments of certain
leaders into the supposed
office of "bishop." This trend has developed despite the
irrefutable fact that no such office or "position" is established
anywhere in Holy Writ, but rather in fact is undeniably
antithetical to the governmental offices God has established in His
Word. In other words, there just is no such an office established
anywhere in Scripture. So what's the problem? It's precisely
what happened to the Early Church under the influence of the
doctrines and deeds of the Nicolaitans, which Jesus Himself
specifically stated He hated and for which He rebuked the Church
for tolerating and espousing, and which led the church into the
utter spiritual apostasy and decimation of the Dark Ages,
from which the Church is still in the process of recovery.

Some friendly DOs and DON'Ts of how a wife can be "encouraging"
to her husband that the Lord gave me while addressing the topic casually in correspondence
with a friend. It was only after I read over what I had written that I felt it was
something the Lord wanted me to pass along to others. This writing was not intended to be
a treatise on the matter, but merely a few basic points that are, nonetheless, sound,
Scriptural, and effectual. Read
The Baptism in the Holy
evidenced by the gift of tongues is a separate
and distinct experience to salvation. It is a
very simple matter for any believer to receive
the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. It is a gift
bestowed by God totally on the basis of grace,
not merit. Jesus is the Baptizer in the Holy
Spirit. God's Word says He will baptize any
believer who in faith believing asks Him to
baptize him or her in the Holy Spirit. Read
Defining and explaining what is
meant by "Hyper-Authoritarianism" and
how to recognize it. Also delineates some of the
common control mechanisms practiced and
characteristics present in hyper-authoritarian
churches, groups, and ministries. Read
Are you one of the many loyal
and sincere church members who faithfully and
cheerfully attend, support and participate in a
local church, but have a nagging, persistent
inward "thought" that "something
is just not right here?" Read
Multitudes of sincere and
trusting believers are caught in the virtually
invisible web of religious captivation in
Charismatic and other Neo-Pentecostal churches,
and don't know it. They are unaware victims of
spiritual abuse and exploitation under a
heavy-hand of improper authoritarianism. Read
The concept of "spiritual
covering" is an absolute myth. No semblance
of the thesis of "spiritual covering"
exists anywhere within Scripture. Rather, it is a
completely fabricated concept, concocted by the
originators of hyper-authoritarian doctrines that
were infused into the very fabric, foundation,
and functions of the church during the
"Discipleship/Shepherdship Movement,"
the objectives of which are self-aggrandizement
subjugation, domination and control. Indeed,
"spiritual covering" really is
"spiritual control." Read
The hypothesis of
"personal shepherdship," that purports
that every believer is required to be subject to,
under the authority of, and accountable to a
"personal pastor," is a wholly false
and Scripturally-unsupported concept.
Nevertheless, this false doctrine has been widely
practiced and propagated in certain segments of
the Neo-Pentecostal church, and has become a
major basis for an insidious form of unauthorized
personal domination and control by ill-motivated,
self-aggrandizing spiritual leaders over their
congregants. Read
Sincere zeal is disarming and
seems so meritorious! One is hardpressed to take
issue with an obviously sincere zealot! Yet,
Scripture indicates misguided zeal, or "zeal
without knowledge," can be
absolutely deadly! A rather ironic and curious
characteristic of false teaching is that, at
bottom, it is "zeal without knowledge."
Wherever false teaching is being promulgated, the
adherents are usually overt zealots, fervently
dedicated to their church-group and its purposes,
beliefs, and goals. Indeed, this zealousness
strongly contributes to the difficulty of
recognizing cults and their aberrant teachings. Read

The Holy Spirit has laid on my heart something I need to share with you. It is a
loving warning from the very heart of Jesus, who said, "Take heed, and beware of
covetousness..." (Luke 12:15). Peter warned that false prophets would arise
"and through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of
you..." (2 Peter 2:3). Read
Despite the great strides the Church has experienced in ridding
false teaching since the beginning of the Protestant Reformation begun in 1517 A.D.,
more yet remains. Change has been a slow, at times, agonizingly slow, process.
Erroneous, that is to say, unbiblical, teaching, or doctrine, though it is rarely
seen as such, is spiritual idolatry. In this article we will take a look at the true
nature of spiritual idolatry and the effect it has upon the individual as well as the
collective church. Read
